In the land of Tick-Tock, at the time of the Sprocket Dynasty, there lived a peaceful gearminer named Clock. While working at the end of Century Cavern, there was a gear that wouldn’t come out of the ground. He yanked it so hard, it popped like a cork! A rolled-up piece of paper in a glass tube was underneath it. He unrolled the paper. The paper read: “ONLY A CLOCK CAN SAVE THE FUTURE.”
Afterward, Clock found a key in the glass tube. He noticed a keyhole on the wall at the end of the cavern. Clock found that the key fit the hole perfectly. When it did, the wall crumbled to reveal The Pond of Time.
Clock found yet another message by the pond that read, “DIVE DOWN DEEP. SAVE THE FUTURE. THE BENEFIT YOU WILL REAP.” He leapt in and found himself on the street where his house was.
Clock was shocked by where he was, but even more shocked when he saw Mt. Millennia (a nearby mountain) had turned into a monster! “I am the Fiend of the Future!” Its voice echoed like a gong, and it appalled Clock. A passerby yelled frantically, “Save us!” Then he understood. He was the “clock who could save the future!” But how?
The monster, with its many arms, grabbed people and forced them to stare into its menacingly hypnotizing eyes. Feeling helpless, Clock shouted, “I think you are an old miser!” Hearing this, the monster put on a frown and he shrank! Insults were the Fiend’s weakness! As Clock hurled insults, the monster became smaller and smaller until it vanished completely.
Clock jumped into a puddle and he was back in the cave. There was no pond; just a cave. His adventure became known throughout the land. He was rewarded by the King of Tick-Tock, who dubbed him Sir Clock, the Hero of the Future.
