This course will focus on foundational skills, mental math techniques, and time-saving strategies that students can apply both in and outside the classroom. Designed for students seeking to improve their math proficiency, the class will cover essential topics in an accessible and engaging format.

Each week, students will focus on a key area of mathematics:

• Mental Math Techniques: Students will practice strategies for quickly performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in their heads.

• Multiplication and Division Shortcuts: The course will introduce time-saving methods, such as multiplying by 9 or 11 and using the distributive property for larger numbers.

• Estimation Skills: Students will learn how to round numbers and estimate sums, differences, products, and quotients quickly.

• Fractions and Decimals: The course will simplify fraction operations, including converting fractions to decimals and comparing them.

• Problem-Solving Strategies: Students will be taught strategies for breaking down word problems and solving them step-by-step.

• Quick Percent Calculations: Students will practice calculating percentages for everyday scenarios, such as discounts and tax.

Online classes meet via Zoom.
